National Chengchi University

In collaboration with Taiwanese Government’s “Aim for the Top University Project,” National Chengchi University (NCCU) established Academia Excellentiae in 2008. The facility was designed in inspiration of Harvard’s HBS campus, providing EMBA curriculums for professional students, and venues for other programs such as IMBA and rentals. The 5 amphitheater classrooms and the function hall are under management by the Participation Education and Research Development Office.

As technology became an essential part of education, NCCU College of Commerce seeks to lead the academia world with a better learning environment by updating the facility. CAYIN provided a solution based on its best selling SMP digital signage players along with xPost, meeting room management software. The solution is incorporated with Academia Excellentiae‘s online booking system, which allows it to automatically display classroom information all around the facility.

In order to create a convenient way for student to keep track of their schedule, the Academia Excellentiae sets up a dual output player to display the synchronized classroom information by the elevator on the first floor, and at the reception on the sixth floor. The wayfinderPost presents the location of the course, the speaker, and the timetable. This significantly reduces the time students and teachers spent on trying to locate the class when on campus. The 42” display by the reception also circulates announcements and marketing materials regarding the whole campus, which allows passerby to resonate with NCCU’s brand and culture.

At the entrance of each classroom is a meetingPost loaded SMP player with a 22” display. In order to maintain the original design of the space, each unit is connected to the web server through Wi-Fi. The server is linked to a database that manages the online booking system, which automatically updates by schedule or whenever a classroom is booked. By incorporating with wayfinderPost, the information is synced across all the players, eliminating the needs for manual inputs.

After the great feedback from students and teachers regarding the upgrade in convenience and the facility, the College of Commerce decided to add two more digital bulletin boards in the lobby and by the elevator. They provide not only schedules of department events, but also the events across campus, opening multiple channels for communication.
